“Valle de las Freiras” (Freiras valley), is one of the most breathetaking valleys in Madeira. It is located in a volcano’s crater, so just for this reason it is worth to visit. “De las Freiras” means “the nun’s” and it has this name because they found out that nuns were hiding there when pirates where coming to the island to sack it. From Funchal the road is quiet sinous but there are some lookouts to stop and admire the valley’s views to the village. This area is very charming and the landscapes are great.
