Anton’s Valley in Panama is a village situated in a valley where there is an extinct volcano. This place is known among Panamanians because it is often visited as a short afternoon trip. It’s located about a two hour drive from Panama City and has natural attractions nearby such as the El Macho Waterfall, some hot springs, El Nispero -a zoological garden where one of its most distinctive peculiarities is that many specimens of the Panamanian golden frog, an endangered species live in the area. The valley is at a higher altitude than the rest of the territory and the weather is colder than in other parts. This is reflected in the vegetation.
In the Valley there are campsites for overnight stays and organized activities such as horseback riding or hiking. In addition, every day there is a handmade products market. The prices are reasonable so it is a good opportunity to send gifts to relatives and friends.
The area is well connected as the buses arrive easily to the valley from some of the largest cities in the country.
