To visit the St. Peter’s Basilica is one of the strongest point of your trip in Rome for sure. This Basilica is one of the biggest churches in the world and the center of the Catholicism worldwide. Inside of it it’s located the Holy See, where the Pope has the main celebrations and meetings.

The name of the Basilica is in honour to the first apostle and the first pope of the history, St. Peter, which is buried under the Basilica and whose remains were found in the 50’s. In its construction, many architects participated like Michelangelo or Bramante, whose master piece can also be admired inside the Basilica: the Pietà of Michelangelo.

The truth is that St. Peter’s Basilica is an impressive building. Just to cross St. Peter’s square, surrounded by hundreds of columns, it is worth to admire the charming and magnificence of the environment. While entering through one of the 5 doors, you will be stunned. It has a capacity for 20.000 people and so you can imagine how big it is.

But the icing on the cake of your visit is to go up to the dome of the Basilica. It has 136 high, being the highest of the world, and from it you have amazing views to Rome and to St. Peter’s square. To arrive to the dome you will have to climb hundreds of stairs, but it is completely worth it.
