Coq au Vin is one of the most popular French dishes. The original recipe comes from the Occitan cuisine. The dish is a stew of meat -generally rooster, duck or goose- cooked in red wine and served with vegetables, including onions. The stew leaves a very rich and consistent sauce usually served with bread. The Coq au Vin is a very suitable prepared dish for lunch or formal dinner.
