Suomenlinna is a maritime fortress built over six islands located very close to the capital of Finland. This impressive fortification is one of the largest in the world and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991. The fortress dates back to 1748 and now houses several museums, barracks and restaurants.
On the six islands where it’s built, there are all kinds of routes that allow walking and even hiking for a day or, if you don't have much time, half a day.
To reach the Suomenlinna, ferry services depart daily from the Market Square in a 20 minutes sail.
