Lagos is one of the villages which receives more visitors every year in Algarve, for its beaches but also for its historical patrimony.
Lagos survived the earthquake in 1755 and in the centre of the city you still can visit some of the buildings from that time like the Igreja de Santo António or the Slaves’ market of the Praça da República, some old colonial heritage.
If you get closer to the seafront to the Avenida dos Descobrimentos you will see some of the city walls which were protecting the city from the pirates and also Forte Ponta da Bandeira.
A part from having a very interesting historical centre, from Lagos you can access to some of the most beautiful and spectacular beaches in Algarve, many of them located at just a few minutes walking: Praia do Pinhao, Praia de Dona Ana or Ponta da Piedade.
