Tavira is one of the most charming cities in Algarve. It has been declared as the “Slow City” because it has kept its natural legacy, its architectural heritage and its Portuguese village essence.
Tavira is located in the region of the Formosa river, which makes a line between the interior municipalities and the coastal ones. Around the Formosa river you’ll find amazing natural sites and small islands almost with noone for a romantic trip. The urban heart of the city has convents, churches, squares and the most eccentric corners, with the streets full of terraces and the buildings decorated with tiles and many fresh fish stands.
When it comes to beaches, Tavira beaches have crystalline waters in a total of 11 km length known as the Island of Tavira.
