Mayonese (Mahonesa) is a world known sauce which many believe has its origin in Maó -hence the name!-. This sauce made from eggs and oil is used in many Menorquian dishes. Legend tells its origin comes from the French invaders, who didn't like all-i-oli (the Catalan sauce which includes garlic- and so they prepared the same whitout garlic. It's ever since a typical sauce from Minorca.
