Old Jaffa neighborhood is one of Tel Aviv’s oldest zones. Being close to the sea, a harbor was built, which during centuries served as an entrance door to Israel. Due to the increase in population –mostly during the 19th Century- the city of Tel Aviv started expanding until reaching what it is now, also thanks to the mix between Jews and Arabians. Currently, Jaffa is like a town inside the big city and houses many shops where you can enjoy a good Israeli meal or see the country’s authentic stores. The architecture mixes history and modernity without clashing with the great buildings that there are in other parts of the city. Walking down its streets, without the chaotic traffic of other parts of Tel Aviv, becomes a very nice activity. From Old Jaffa, there are a few very nice views of the city and, by the sea, activities are held at all times: the harbor market or the flea market. If you visit Tel Aviv, you must visit this corner of the city and take a walk by the harbor.
