The Bridge of Sighs is one of Venice's most famous bridges even though its dimensions are pretty small. It connects the Doge's Palace with the former prison of the Inquisition, just off St. Mark's Square. It's called "of Sighs" because it is said that when death row prisoners crossed the bridge it was the last time they got to see the sky and the sea and so they sighed.
The bridge seems to be hidden in a narrow channel but you will see it right away if you follow the directions where the tourist's cameras are pointing. You can cross it from the inside of Doge's Palace, but usually people prefer the outside views.
