Santa Maria della Salute is located in the Dorsoduro district and it's famous for its large dome that can be seen from various city points. It often appears in postcards of Venice.
The temple is located right across St. Mark’s square, the most famous mall of the city. The Basilica of Santa Maria della Sallute was built to celebrate the end of the plague, a contagious disease that took the lives of hundreds of people. That's why the church is dedicated to health.
Inside the temple it is quite austere but beautiful and in the sacristy there is one of Tintoretto's best known works 'The Wedding at Cana'. Admission is free.
